About the role

This apprenticeship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience within the finance function of an international protein trading business. The apprentice will develop skills across financial reporting, trade finance and financial planning and analysis, alongside formal study, building valuable technical and commercial knowledge. The role will provide a strong foundation in finance, helping the trainee develop practical accounting knowledge, commercial awareness and confidence in a business environment. Initial responsibilities will focus on supporting core finance activities, developing accuracy, meeting deadlines and completing work to a high standard. A key part of the role will be assisting experienced team members while gaining a broader understanding of how finance supports the business. Areas of involvement may include supporting management reporting, sales profitability validation, financial system development, trade finance support, purchase invoice processing, month/year-end accounting, audit assistance, and departmental project participation. Some work experience is desirable, and this role is designed for individuals committed to a long-term career in finance, willing to progress beyond AAT to higher professional qualifications like ACCA.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE English (5+), GCSE Maths (5+), A-Level equivalent (112 UCAS points / BBC). Essential skills include communication, attention to detail, number skills, analytical skills, teamwork, enthusiasm to learn, ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to business needs. Desirable: some work experience.
