About the role

As a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprentice at Barton Primary School, you will learn from experienced tutors to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviors essential for becoming a successful teaching assistant. You will support teachers in various capacities, including providing small group and individual pupil assistance, liaising with teachers to understand session objectives, and monitoring pupil progress. The role also involves promoting positive behavior, raising self-esteem, and improving independent work among children. Depending on the school's needs, there might be a focus on specific curriculum areas. This varied position offers invaluable experience in a professional setting and aims to provide a stepping stone for your future career in education. Responsibilities may extend to working with pupils with special educational needs, supporting those with English as a second language, assisting in the development of individual learning plans, supporting volunteers, and helping with ICT in the classroom. You may also be involved in invigilating exams, escorting pupils on visits, preparing classroom materials, and supporting pupils with personal and social development, including assistance with eating, dressing, and hygiene where necessary, while fostering independence. Monitoring classroom stock and supplies is also a part of the role.
