As a Formwork Apprentice, you will support site teams with a range of groundwork activities, including assisting in making formwork and falsework 'casts' or moulds for concrete items like foundations, staircases, beams, columns, and walls. You will learn to read and interpret site drawings, measure, shape, and cut materials, build wooden structures, and assemble pre-made metal frames, scaffolding, and platforms. Quality checking, working with concrete, and safe material handling and site clean-up are also key duties. This is a physically demanding role, primarily outdoors on construction sites, and may require travel. A CSCS card is essential, and a commitment to health and safety is paramount. Upon completion, opportunities for further development in plant operations, specialist groundwork, and supervisory roles are available.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade 4, and a CSCS Green Labourer card.
