About the role

Old Park Primary School, Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an Apprentice Teaching Assistant. This role involves supporting pupils with special educational needs, facilitating their development and skills, and assisting with their care and welfare. You will also support the school by maintaining policies, preparing resources, and promoting positive behaviour. Additionally, you will assist teachers in delivering pre-planned work, supervising pupils during activities and school trips, and liaising with parents. The apprenticeship includes support with curriculum development and attendance at relevant meetings and training. This is a fixed-term contract for the duration of the apprenticeship. You will receive support from experienced colleagues, a workplace mentor, and a dedicated mentor from the Council's Apprenticeships team. A willingness to shadow senior staff, attend training, and be flexible is essential. Safeguarding and Child Protection are paramount, requiring an Enhanced DBS Check. Annual leave must be taken outside of term time.
