Apprentice Early Years Educator

About the role

This apprenticeship involves supporting children with learning tasks, classroom activities, play and their overall development and wellbeing. Applicants should apply to develop childcare skills, gain practical experience and make a positive difference to children’s lives. Duties include supporting children with learning activities, encouraging reading, writing, and early maths skills, supporting learning through play, preparing and organising classroom activities, working with individual children or small groups, observing children's learning, development and behaviour, encouraging communication and language skills, supporting personal care routines, assisting during snack and lunchtime, fostering social skills and confidence, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, supervising children, supporting outdoor learning, working alongside teachers, communicating with parents and staff, following safeguarding procedures, and reflecting on practice. The training requires one college day per month at East Durham College.

Entry requirements

• GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or above. Key skills include communication, organisation, numerical ability, logic, teamwork, creativity, initiative, being non-judgemental, and patience.
