About the role

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has completed AAT Level 3 and wants to progress toward full qualification as an Assistant Accountant. You will work across a variety of client accounts and gain exposure to real-world accounting tasks.

Key responsibilities include preparing bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients, assisting with year-end accounts preparation for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies, and supporting the preparation of VAT returns and management accounts. You will also process bank reconciliations, maintain accurate ledgers, and assist with personal and corporation tax computations. Communication with clients to request information and resolve queries will be essential, as will using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage. Hybrid working is available, with a minimum of 3 days in the office for collaboration. The role offers 32 days off per year, rising to 37 with service, including bank holidays and your birthday. Time off between Christmas and New Year is also included. The role is built to grow, with opportunities for managing people within the first several months and real progression as the practice grows. Study leave and support are provided for those still working towards qualification, and the company covers CPD and professional body membership. Direct access to directors from day one provides valuable insight into practice management.
