About the role

SEN Trust Southend is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic ICT Support Apprentice to join their busy special needs secondary school. This role involves providing technical support, managing IT systems, and troubleshooting hardware and software issues. The apprentice will be responsible for processing support tickets, installing software and operating systems, maintaining curriculum hardware, and keeping audits up-to-date. The position requires strong communication skills, the ability to relate to children and young people with learning disabilities, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The apprentice will also be expected to have regard for the welfare of pupils and actively assist with school policies.

This apprenticeship offers a comprehensive training program, including tutorials on basic, intermediate, and advanced IT skills tailored to the support role. The apprentice will study towards a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals, a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in ICT Systems and Principles, and Information Communications Technician Personal Attributes and Behaviours. Functional Skills in maths, English, and ICT at Level 2 will also be pursued if not already attained. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there is an opportunity for a permanent position within the IT team.
