About the role

This apprenticeship offers a hands-on opportunity to become a Property Maintenance Operative. Apprentices will learn to support the maintenance and repair of buildings and facilities, ensuring they are safe and compliant for pupils, staff, and visitors. The role involves assisting with both planned and reactive maintenance, conducting routine inspections, identifying defects, and carrying out basic repairs to plumbing, waste systems, doors, windows, and decorative finishes. Apprentices will also support site teams with daily tasks, classroom moves, and holiday maintenance programmes, as well as assisting contractors. Adherence to Health and Safety procedures and the use of PPE are crucial. This apprenticeship combines practical on-the-job training with study at Cambridge Regional College, providing a pathway to develop skills and potentially progress to a permanent Site Officer role.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade 3/D or above, good communication skills, attention to detail, organisation skills, problem-solving skills, teamwork, and initiative.
