Eastern & Southern - Overhead Line Operative Apprentice

About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Overhead Line Operative Apprentice to join our Eastern & Southern account within Amey's Transport Infrastructure Business Unit, based in Bedford. Whether you are leaving school, finishing college or looking for a new direction, this is a great place to start building your future career.

Core Responsibilities include working as directed by supervisors, supporting site surveys and material preparation, discussing construction issues, following safety-critical processes, and referring installation issues to supervisors or engineers. You will also attend meetings, required training, and induction courses, including the Level 3 apprenticeship programme. The role involves undertaking weekend and night duties in line with the roster, identifying foreseeable risks, and ensuring construction work meets required quality standards. Safety Specific Responsibilities involve behaving and working safely, only undertaking competent tasks, reporting fit for duty, wearing mandatory PPE, participating in safety meetings, reporting all accidents, incidents, and close calls, and maintaining accurate site records.

Entry requirements

• Communication skills, IT skills, Attention to detail, Organisation skills, Customer care skills, Problem solving skills, Presentation skills, Administrative skills, Number skills, Analytical skills, Logical, Team working, Creative, Initiative, Physical fitness. Full UK driving licence. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. If under 19 years with no Maths & or English, candidate will have to complete functional skills. Successful applicants will be required to undergo random drug and alcohol testing.
