About the role

Billinghay Sawmill Ltd is seeking a Wood Machinist Apprentice to join their team. This hands-on role involves assisting with the manufacture of solid and engineered timber flooring and bespoke timber products. You will learn joinery and carpentry techniques, safe operation of woodworking machinery, and how to select, prepare, and process timber. Responsibilities include preparing, machining, sanding, and finishing timber, checking quality, organising materials, and maintaining a clean and safe work area. The apprenticeship offers the opportunity to learn the full manufacturing process and develop skills across woodworking, joinery, carpentry, and timber flooring. No two days are the same, and there is potential for career progression within a growing business.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths: A*/9 – C/4 (Essential), GCSE Science: A*/9 – C/4 (Desired). Strong communication, attention to detail, organisational, problem-solving, and teamwork skills are required.
