About the role

Anthony Gell School is looking for an Apprentice Teaching Assistant to support students with additional needs. You will work under the guidance of class teachers and the SENDCO to help students learn independently and in groups. Support can be provided one-on-one, in small groups, or within the classroom.

Key duties include liaising effectively with colleagues, managers, students, and parents/carers, acting as a mentor and role model, promoting high expectations for student learning, development, and behaviour. You will also support student integration into classroom environments, facilitate their access to the curriculum, and assist groups of students in Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. Contributing to the management of transition arrangements for students is also part of the role.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE English and Mathematics at C/4 or above. Essential skills include communication, IT, organisation, administration, numeracy, logical thinking, teamwork, initiative, being non-judgemental, patience, and physical fitness.
