About the role
An exciting opportunity to become an Apprentice Teaching Assistant at The Priory Primary School, offered by Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council. This apprenticeship will provide you with real work experience while you gain qualifications, helping you decide on a future career path. You will support pupils with complex learning difficulties, assist with their development and motivation, and help maintain their interests. Duties include supporting pupils with dress, changing, and personal hygiene, as well as assisting with individual and group work across the curriculum. You will also be involved in care and welfare of pupils, including toileting and feeding, and escorting them around the school. Supporting the school involves liaising with parents, maintaining school policies, preparing rooms and equipment, and promoting high standards of behaviour. You will assist teachers with pre-planned programmes of work, planning activities, and completing assessments. Additionally, you will support curriculum development, attend staff meetings and training, and prepare curriculum materials. The role emphasizes equality, sensitivity, and promoting a harmonious working environment. You will need to have a genuine regard for Safeguarding and Child Protection and be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS Check. Annual leave must be taken outside of term time. This apprenticeship offers support for career progression, including workshops to help you identify and articulate your gained skills for future applications.
Entry requirements
- GCSE English Language and Maths at grades A*-C/9-4 or L2 equivalent.
