About the role

This apprenticeship offers a fantastic opportunity to join Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Service as an IT Support Technician Apprentice. You will be instrumental in providing a customer-focused ICT support service to stakeholders across Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Services. Your role will involve acting as the first point of contact for ICT incidents and requests, managing calls, ensuring Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met, and escalating issues as needed. You will also be responsible for allocating calls to appropriate support groups, maintaining accurate documentation of IT assets, and adhering to operational processes and standards like ISO 27001 and ITIL. The role requires flexibility to work across various sites, including Cambourne Fire Station and potentially from home, while learning to provide responsive support to end-users. Duties will include hardware installations such as laptops and mobile phones, and other similar tasks. A strong emphasis is placed on health and safety, equality and diversity, and contributing to quality management and customer care standards. Corporate accountabilities include safeguarding, health, safety, and risk management.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C or equivalent. Functional Skills/Key Skills at Level 2 are also accepted. Five GCSE 9-4 grades or equivalent are required, including English and Maths.
