About the role

This apprenticeship offers a fantastic opportunity to join the IT Service and Operations department at University College London (UCL). The apprentice will gain hands-on experience in managing IT infrastructure and data platforms, including data centres, cloud services, networks, and enterprise applications. The role involves rotating through various teams within UCL's Information Systems Division (ISD) for 3-6 month placements, providing exposure to different areas of IT support and development. Key duties include liaising with stakeholders to define requirements, analyzing business processes, contributing to software development using agile or waterfall methodologies, providing first and second-line support for desktops, mobile devices, and other IT equipment, and assisting with incident resolution and user queries. The apprentice will also support UCL's core IT systems, create and review documentation, and potentially get involved in scripting and service improvement initiatives for UCL's Office 365 applications. This role is ideal for individuals with a keen interest in software development and IT, looking to build a career in a leading academic institution.

Entry requirements

  • GCSEs in English and Maths at grade 4/C or above, or Level 2 Functional Skills. Must have been a UK/EEA resident for the last 3 years and have the right to work in the UK.
