Apprentice Nursery Assistant

About the role

St Mary’s VC Academy, Pocklington, are recruiting an Apprentice Nursery Assistant for their Nursery/Reception class. This is a supportive and friendly school environment with opportunities to develop skills working under the direction of teachers and the EYFS Lead. The role is ideal for someone eager to gain experience with young pupils, supporting teaching and learning, assisting the class teacher, helping children develop skills, communicating with parents, and ensuring safeguarding.

At least 6 hours per week will be dedicated to training with Craven College. The successful applicant will be subject to a DBS check and should be aware that the role may involve working outdoors and physical tasks. Career progression opportunities exist, with the potential to continue with the academy after achieving the Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship.

Entry requirements

• GCSE English Language Grade 4 or C (or equivalent) and GCSE Maths Grade 4 or C (or equivalent). Essential skills include communication, IT, attention to detail, organisation, customer care, problem-solving, presentation, administration, numeracy, analytical skills, being logical, teamwork, creativity, initiative, being non-judgemental, patience, physical fitness, and an understanding of child safety.
