Software Development - Level 4

About the role

Embark on a Software Development Apprenticeship at Transport for London (TfL) and contribute to the systems that keep London moving. This 30-month program offers hands-on experience in writing professional, high-quality code across various technologies and large-scale software systems. You will rotate through 3-4 placements, including Full-stack Developer, Revenue Systems Developer, Web Developer, and App Developer roles. The initial training focuses on C# and code testing. Placements involve developing responsive web applications, scalable cloud-based platforms, and mobile apps, with opportunities to learn pair programming, Scrum methodologies, and cloud technologies like Microsoft Azure. TfL's differentiator is the broad exposure to technologies, tools, and teams. Upon completion, you'll be equipped to work as a Junior Developer and have a clear path for progression to Developer, Senior Developer, and Technical Lead roles.

Entry requirements

• 3 GCSEs Grade A*-C (or 4+) in Maths and English, plus 2 A-Levels Grade A*-D (or equivalent). An IT A-level or GCSE (A*-C) or existing programming language knowledge is required. Must be 18 years old by 7 September 2026.
