About the role

Embark on a 3-year journey with Transport for London (TfL) as a Power Apprentice on the London Underground. This advanced apprenticeship offers hands-on experience within Europe's largest private power network. You'll be involved in the planning, delivery, and maintenance of critical electrical infrastructure, including circuit breakers, transformers, and control systems. The program includes college-based learning for a Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Power Engineering, safety training, and practical placements across various Power departments such as Operating, Planning, HV Cables, and Plant Maintenance. You will develop skills in using mechanical hand tools, electrical test equipment, and lifting equipment. The apprenticeship culminates in an End Point Assessment, including a site trade test, to become a proficient Substation Fitter. Upon completion, career progression opportunities include roles as a Plant Fitter or High Voltage cables Fitter, with potential pathways into more specialized technical roles, management, or further study like an HNC.

Entry requirements

  • A minimum of 3 GCSE's Grade 4 or above including Maths, English Language and Physics (or Science if combined). Must be 18 by 7 September 2026.
