About the role

Volvo Truck & Bus is offering an exciting opportunity for motivated, hands-on individuals to join their team as Apprentice HGV Technicians starting in 2027. This apprenticeship is designed for individuals passionate about trucks, buses, and heavy vehicles, with a knack for solving mechanical puzzles. Successful apprentices will assist with repairs, fault diagnosis, learn warranty procedures, and work with the parts team. They will also learn to use Volvo special tools safely and efficiently, assist with workshop cleaning, and ensure accurate completion of job cards. The role involves reporting vehicle defects and attending college courses and technical training. Apprentices will receive full equipment, including tools, and work with experienced technicians to learn about repairing, servicing, MOTs, and maintaining modern trucks, buses, and coaches, including hybrid technology. Training is delivered through a combination of workplace learning and block release at Inspiro's Heavy Vehicle Academy in Derby, covering 16 blocks over the 32-month program. Accommodation, food, and travel costs are covered by the employer. Apprentices will also receive 1-2-1 support from a dedicated Development Coach and work towards IMI qualifications, specifically the Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Level 3 qualification, along with the Apprenticeship Standard for Bus, Coach, and HGV.
