About the role

As an Apprentice Carpenter, you will work alongside experienced carpenters and construction professionals while completing a recognised apprenticeship programme. You will gain practical, hands-on experience in carpentry and construction whilst developing the skills and knowledge required to become a qualified carpenter.

Duties include assisting with the installation of doors, windows, staircases, floors, and roofing components. You will learn to measure, mark and cut timber and other materials accurately, and use hand and power tools safely and effectively. This role involves assisting with first-fix and second-fix carpentry tasks, reading and following technical drawings and site instructions, and preparing and maintaining work areas, tools, and equipment. You will also support the wider construction team with general site duties and maintain high standards of health and safety at all times. Weekly training sessions will be attended at SBC Training.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or above.
