About the role

The Finance Apprentice role is a developmental position within the GCA Finance function at Cummins Ltd, based in Darlington. This apprenticeship offers the opportunity to gain practical experience in a major global organisation while studying for the AAT Level 3 qualification. Upon successful completion, there's a possibility to progress to AAT Level 4. Duties include compiling and analysing accounting information, assisting with financial statements, making accounting adjustments, reconciling accounts, and examining financial statements for accuracy. The role requires strong IT and MS Office skills (including Excel), GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above), and good knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping. Applicants must be UK residents who have lived in the UK for the last 3 years. Cummins offers a supportive environment for skill development and career progression.

Entry requirements

  • AAT Level 2 or A Level equivalent qualification in Accounting, Finance or Business-related field (A Level or Level 3 will be considered if Bookkeeping was involved in the module). Proficient IT and MS office skills (including Excel) is essential. GCSE or equivalent maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) with 3 other subjects at grade C/4 or above. Good knowledge of Double-entry Bookkeeping is essential for the role. Must be a UK resident who has lived in the UK for the last 3 years. If you are a previous resident of the EU/EEA, you must have gained pre-settlement or settlement status. Good Organisation skills and excellent communication skills.
