About the role

Transport for London (TfL) is offering a unique 5-year Sustainability Degree Apprenticeship based in London with hybrid working options. This program is designed for individuals passionate about creating a greener, healthier, and more sustainable London. As the largest user of electricity in London, TfL is at the forefront of environmental initiatives, even operating its own power station. Apprentices will gain hands-on experience across a wide range of departments, contributing to TfL's ambitious sustainability goals. The program includes a valuable 2-week induction and 3-4 weeks of customer service experience at a station, providing essential front-line insights. Subsequent placements, chosen collaboratively with the apprentice, will span various TfL teams, allowing for the development of critical skills and knowledge in areas such as corporate strategy, energy and carbon reduction, technical environmental advice, facilities operations, property management, engineering, transport policy, procurement, and more. This apprenticeship offers a direct pathway to a career dedicated to environmental stewardship within a major public transport organization.

Entry requirements

  • A minimum of 2 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade 4 (C) or above, including English and Maths. 2 A Levels e.g. Geography, Sciences, Geology or Maths at Grade A*-C or equivalent, OR BTEC or equivalent Science or Engineering related (Grade DMM) essential, OR Pass Access to HE Diploma in relevant subjects e.g. Engineering, Science, Business and Maths. Must be 18 years old by September 2026. Not eligible if currently holding or working towards a qualification at the same or higher level in a related subject or have already studied content from the qualification.
