About the role

As a Survival Equipment Technician in the Royal Navy, you'll ensure the safety of your crewmates and passengers by maintaining and instructing on emergency survival equipment. This includes immersion suits, flying helmets, oxygen masks, parachutes, emergency breathing equipment, survival packs, radio beacons, distress flares, life jackets, and life rafts. You will also train personnel on escape procedures and survival drills. This apprenticeship offers the opportunity to work with advanced aircraft and on world-class aircraft carriers. Training includes basic naval training, followed by specialized training at the Defence College of Aeronautical Engineering and practical experience at a Royal Naval Air Station. Career progression opportunities are available, potentially leading to a Commissioned Officer role.
