About the role

This apprenticeship with the Royal Navy offers a unique opportunity to train as a Production Chef within Catering Services, specifically for submariners. You will gain comprehensive skills in running a commercial kitchen, including ordering, receiving, and accounting for provisions, as well as mastering front-of-house experience and behind-the-scenes organization. Beyond culinary expertise, you will develop crucial skills as a trained submariner, covering firefighting, first aid, and operational capabilities. This role is vital for maintaining crew morale, as mealtimes are a significant aspect of life onboard. Training will take place at onshore facilities and operational submarines, commencing with basic naval training followed by role-specific training in various catering styles, food hygiene, health and safety, and catering accountancy. Upon successful completion, you will undergo further training in submarine operations and warfare, culminating in earning the 'Dolphins' badge, signifying you as a qualified submariner.
