IT Solutions Technician Apprenticeship at North Walsham High School

About the role

We’re seeking an enthusiastic and motivated IT Solutions Apprentice to join our Digital Team. This role is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in IT support, network management, and audio/visual services while working towards a recognised qualification.

Duties include maintaining internet and network connectivity, responding to IT helpdesk requests, installing and configuring hardware/software, managing user accounts, and maintaining IT knowledge bases. You will also be responsible for setting up and maintaining IT equipment such as laptops, printers, and projectors, carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs, and keeping accurate inventories. The role involves monitoring network security, assisting with cyber incident response, and promoting cyber safety. Compliance with GDPR and other regulations is essential. You will set up and operate AV equipment for school events and produce video content. Liaising with suppliers for AV equipment and providing technical support for IT projects are also key responsibilities. Attendance at up to five scheduled evening events annually and assistance with examination material preparation are required.

Skills and qualities desired include a passion for technology, strong communication and interpersonal skills, organisation, adaptability, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. A calm, helpful, and customer-focused approach is important. Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Microsoft Office, basic networking, Active Directory, and Adobe Creative Cloud is beneficial, as is experience with hardware assembly, maintenance, or upgrades, and AV equipment setup and video editing.

Entry requirements

• GCSE Maths and English A*-C/9-4 or Level 2 equivalent, alongside strong communication, IT, attention to detail, organisation, customer care, problem-solving, presentation, administrative, analytical, logical, teamwork, and initiative skills.
