About the role

Start your education career at Rise Carr College as a Teaching Assistant, supporting students’ learning and personal growth in our inclusive environment. This hands-on role includes Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship training to help you build skills, knowledge, and confidence for a rewarding future.

Your main duties would include establishing rapport and respectful, trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a role model, and setting high expectations. You will raise pupil achievement by supporting the class teacher to develop outstanding practice, and work with individual and groups of children to encourage them to achieve greater independence and self-confidence. You will also promote positive pupil behaviour in line with school policies and help keep pupils on task, and interact with, and support pupils, according to individual needs and skills. Promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all children within the classroom ensuring access to lessons and their content through appropriate clarification, explanation and resources, and participating in planning and evaluation of learning activities with the teacher, providing feedback to the teacher on pupil progress and behaviour are key responsibilities. You will support the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans, SEN Profiles and Care Plans, assist with escorting pupils on educational visits, attend relevant training and take responsibility for own development, and respect confidentiality at all times.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C+.
