About the role

Dorrington Academy is offering an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Assistant Apprentice to work within an outstanding school environment. This role allows you to earn while you learn, gaining a recognised qualification that will enhance your skills and set you on a successful career pathway with great employment opportunities. Key duties include supervising classroom activities, assisting with young people's learning experiences, and providing extra support to students who may need it. You will learn valuable classroom-based skills, behaviour techniques, and how to plan sessions with learning objectives in mind. The role involves working alongside teachers to support all classroom activities, assisting with the planning and implementation of learning activities, and preparing and clearing the classroom for lessons. You will also help with displaying pupil's work, monitoring pupil responses, and providing feedback to teachers on pupil progress and challenges. The apprenticeship includes supporting good pupil behaviour, handling conflicts, and providing general clerical and administrative support. Furthermore, you will support pupils in understanding instructions, engaging in structured learning activities, and developing their ICT competence. Preparing, maintaining, and using equipment and resources for lessons is also part of the role, along with monitoring and managing stock and supplies.
