About the role

This Accounts Apprentice role at RICHARD REED LIMITED in Sunderland offers a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience in a finance function. The apprentice will be responsible for day-to-day bookkeeping, processing accounts payable/receivable, performing bank reconciliations, and maintaining accurate accounting records. The role supports the firm's financial controls, compliance framework, and adheres to SRA Accounts Rules. Key duties include processing invoices, allocating receipts, assisting with credit control, resolving billing queries, managing petty cash, processing expense claims, and ensuring correct VAT treatment. The apprentice will also provide administrative support to the finance team and maintain financial records in accounting software like Leap and Xero. Continuous identification of process improvements is encouraged. The position requires strict confidentiality and adherence to data protection requirements, including UK GDPR. This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check and a probationary period.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or above. A Level Maths grade C or above.
