About the role

Babraham Nursery is seeking a Nursery Apprentice to join their team. The successful candidate will study towards an Early Years Practitioner or Educator Apprenticeship (Level 2 or 3) and gain valuable on-the-job experience. Responsibilities include assisting with a group of young children, planning and supervising activities, liaising with parents, and observing children's development. The role involves working 4 days in the nursery with a 7-hour college day, totaling 38.5 or 39 hours per week. Benefits include study support, funding, and career development opportunities. Essential requirements are GCSEs in English and Maths (grade 3 or D). Strong communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills are important, as is a genuine enjoyment of working with children and patience. The apprentice must be enthusiastic, motivated, and able to communicate effectively with children, staff, and parents. A DBS check is required, and the apprentice must be prepared to work with all age groups up to 5 years old, get messy, and spend time outdoors in all weather. Attendance at monthly staff meetings and special events is also expected. Successful completion can lead to qualified staff positions, further study up to degree level, and increased responsibilities within childcare settings.
