About the role

The apprenticeship in dental nursing is a 12-month government-funded course by City & Guilds, a Level 3 Extended Diploma. Alongside your learning, your job role within the practice will entail assisting dentists, sterilising & preparing equipment, reception duties and supporting patient experience.

Duties include providing efficient and reliable chair-side support to the dental surgery. Day-to-day duties can span across all areas of the practice and include reception duties, dealing with patient queries, taking payments, booking appointments, sterilising and preparing equipment, recording patient records, supporting patient wellbeing, cleaning dental areas, and managing stock of equipment and supplies. Any other duties to support the dentists and senior team to provide effective patient care are also expected.

Desired qualifications include GCSE English and Maths at grade 4. Essential skills include communication, organisation, customer care, problem-solving, administrative skills, teamwork, being non-judgmental, patience, and patient care.
