About the role

This is an 18-month, government-funded Level 3 Extended Diploma apprenticeship in Dental Nursing, provided by City & Guilds. As an apprentice dental nurse, you will assist dentists with treatments, sterilise and prepare equipment, handle reception duties, and support the overall patient experience. The role involves providing efficient chairside support, maintaining high standards of patient care, confidentiality, and GDPR compliance. Key duties include welcoming patients, managing enquiries, preparing surgeries, sterilising instruments, assisting clinicians, updating patient records, monitoring stock, and ensuring clean and safe clinical areas. The apprenticeship offers a clear career path with progression opportunities into roles like Senior Dental Nurse, Lead Nurse, Treatment Coordinator, or Practice Manager. Further training can lead to specialisms such as Dental Hygienist, Dental Therapist, or Orthodontic Therapist.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE Maths at grade 4 or above, GCSE English at grade 4 or above. Strong administrative, analytical, customer care, IT, organisational, and communication skills are desired, along with initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to work as part of a team.
