About the role

This is a Public Health Apprentice Level 6 position at Derby City Council, located in Derbyshire. The apprenticeship offers the opportunity to improve the health and wellbeing of local communities while gaining qualifications for a public health career. The role involves working in the Public Health and Neighbourhoods teams, gaining experience in public health functions such as prevention of ill health, health protection, and health improvement. Key responsibilities include supporting the planning, delivery, monitoring, evaluation, communication, and engagement of public health services, projects, and programmes. Strong communication, data understanding, and community engagement skills are essential. The apprenticeship spans three years, with full support provided to meet learning objectives.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE English and Mathematics at C/4. A-level in any subject (except General Studies) at C/4. Desired skills include communication, customer care, problem-solving, initiative, passion, community support, independent working, and self-motivation.
