About the role

This Level 3 Youth Work Apprenticeship with YOUNG GLOUCESTERSHIRE offers a comprehensive training program focused on supporting young people. The apprenticeship involves nine mandatory units covering essential youth work principles such as anti-discriminatory practice, communication, safeguarding, and working with challenging behaviour. Apprentices will undertake a one-to-one youth work support role, manage a caseload of young people needing assistance with mental health and mentoring, and complete a Level 3 qualification. Key duties include building relationships with young people and their communities, working confidently in both group and individual settings, and addressing practical issues affecting young people. The role emphasizes enthusiasm, integrity, and professionalism, with a strong focus on ensuring the voice of young people is heard in decision-making processes. Apprentices will also support programme recruitment, develop resources, and contribute to maintaining a quality service, including carrying out risk assessments and utilizing recording systems like Upshot. Upon completion, apprentices will possess a Level 3 youth support qualification, opening doors to careers in youth work, school TA roles, and college welfare positions.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade 4. Full UK Driving License. Desired skills include communication, IT, attention to detail, organisation, problem-solving, teamwork, initiative, being non-judgemental, and patience.
