About the role

This apprenticeship offers a comprehensive introduction to horse care, focusing on the role of an Equine Groom at Level 2. Duties will encompass all essential aspects of equine management, including grooming, mucking out, trimming, plaiting, lunging, health care, assisting with travel, and feeding. The role also involves grooming at competitions and during riding activities. Successful candidates will join the SCT Apprenticeship programme, requiring a strong work ethic, resilience to work outdoors in various weather conditions, and commitment to weekend work. Apprentices are expected to consistently try their best, adhere to British values (rule of law, democracy, tolerance, and mutual respect), and actively improve their English and Maths skills. Completion of online learning modules, punctuality for work and training, and maintaining a polite, tidy, and professional demeanor are also crucial. Regular updates to the Skillscheck at work and timely completion of Action Plan tasks are mandatory. The apprenticeship includes practical training at the yard, masterclass sessions, seminars, and regular support from an SCT Coach. Upon completion of this Level 2 qualification, there is a pathway to progress to Level 3.
