About the role

Halfords is seeking a Light Vehicle Technician Apprentice to join their dealership in Ilkeston. This apprenticeship offers first-class training and excellent long-term career prospects. Responsibilities include assisting qualified technicians with vehicle investigations, repairs, and servicing, producing estimates, carrying out diagnostics, performing warranty work, and assisting with MOTs. The role also involves general technical duties, maintaining good housekeeping, and providing excellent customer service. Candidates should possess strong communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills, and be able to work effectively in a team. GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 are essential. The training is provided by Nottingham College and leads to a Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard in Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle). Successful candidates will also study towards Level 2 Maths and English functional skills if necessary. The program lasts 24 months, including 18 weeks of block release training at EMTEC's centre in Nottingham. The apprenticeship includes ongoing assessments, a synoptic assessment with a logbook, behaviour assessment, knowledge test, and a practical skills test. Upon completion, apprentices will achieve the Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle) Standard and a Level 3 Award in Automotive Refrigerant Handling.
