About the role

Turn your curiosity into a career with Thales UK Limited as a Software Engineering Apprentice. This exciting degree apprenticeship combines academic study with on-the-job experience, where you'll develop the technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional behaviors needed to become a confident engineer. You will support the delivery of software solutions, contribute to project reviews, assist with engineering investigations, and communicate technical recommendations. This role requires working with experienced engineers on live projects. As a Software Engineering Apprentice, you will study towards a Level 6 Digital and Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship with Manchester Metropolitan University. Your learning will be supported through taught units and work-based projects, focusing on live business scenarios. You will attend university one day per week and work at the Cheadle site for the other four days, applying your learning to real projects. At the end of the 4-year program, you will be working as a Software Engineer within Thales UK businesses. The program uses a blended learning approach, combining on-campus teaching, online workshops, and guided self-study.

Entry requirements

  • GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A-C) in Maths and English, and A Levels with 104 UCAS points (e.g., B, C, C). Strong communication, IT, attention to detail, organisation, problem-solving, administrative, analytical, and teamwork skills are essential.
