About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an apprentice dental nurse to join Rodericks Yeovil Dental Practice. The role involves providing chairside support and a high level of oral health care to patients. The apprenticeship will equip you with the skills and knowledge required to qualify and have a successful career in dental nursing. Daily activities include assisting dentists with treatments, providing patient care, setting up and cleaning surgeries, sterilizing instruments, updating patient records, maintaining equipment, and preparing instruments and materials. You will receive ongoing support and training from both the dental practice for practical skills and Aspiration Training for the theory side, with online study and regular 1-2-1 sessions. Off-the-job training will be provided during paid working hours. A passion for the dental sector is essential, and candidates should not be deterred by the sight of blood. A course of Hepatitis B vaccines and an enhanced DBS check are required. Upon qualification, there are opportunities for further training as a dental hygienist, therapist, or in dental cosmetics, as well as career progression into roles like head nurse, team leader, or practice manager.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths at grades 4-9, good communication skills, attention to detail, organisation skills, and customer care skills.
