About the role

This apprenticeship offers the opportunity to learn and build foundational skills in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) and laboratory operations. Working under close supervision, the apprentice will support Puraffinity in maintaining a safe, compliant and well-organised working environment across laboratory and operational activities.

Duties include promoting a positive H&S culture, supporting HSE systems, carrying out routine checks, assisting with inspections and audits, recording incidents, supporting mandatory training administration, preparing HSE communications, maintaining records, and assisting with environmental activities. Lab administration duties involve maintaining consumable stock and inventory, supporting the chemical inventory system, preparing analytical samples, and laboratory housekeeping. The apprentice will work towards a relevant qualification (e.g., Level 3 Safety, Health & Environment Technician or Laboratory Technician), building knowledge of HSE legislation and best practice. Essential qualifications include GCSEs (or equivalent) Grade 4/C or above in English, Maths, and Science, along with good organisation, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
