About the role

The apprenticeship in dental nursing is an 18-month government-funded course by City & Guilds, a Level 3 Extended Diploma. Alongside your learning, your job role within the practice will entail assisting dentists, sterilising & preparing equipment, reception duties, and supporting patient experience. Duties include welcoming patients, handling enquiries, preparing surgeries, sterilising instruments, assisting clinicians, updating patient records, supporting patient comfort, monitoring stock, maintaining clinical areas, upholding patient privacy, and collaborating with the team. The role emphasizes high standards of patient care, confidentiality, and GDPR compliance. Upon completion, a career in dental nursing can lead to roles such as Senior Dental Nurse, Lead Nurse, Treatment Coordinator, or Practice Manager. Further training can lead to Dental Hygienist, Dental Therapist, or Orthodontic Therapist.
