About the role

This apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced AI researchers, engineers, and domain specialists at THALES UK LIMITED. You will actively support research and experimentation on live projects, focusing on translating complex questions into evidence-based findings, prototypes, and recommendations.

Key responsibilities include reviewing technical literature, designing controlled experiments, preparing data and developing proof-of-concept machine learning models, analyzing results, and documenting methods. You will also be responsible for communicating findings through reports, demonstrations, and reviews, and will collaborate with experienced professionals on challenging research tasks. This role requires strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, along with a keen attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a team.

Due to the nature of the work at Thales, all candidates must have the permanent right to work in the UK and be able to obtain and maintain UK Government security checks, including BPSS screening and Security Clearance (SC). Eligibility for SC clearance typically requires continuous residency in the UK for the last five years.

Entry requirements

  • GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above) and 3 A-Levels in Maths and a relevant subject (Grade C or above, with a B in Maths).
