About the role

This Level 5 Early Years Lead Apprenticeship offers a fantastic opportunity to develop into a Deputy Manager within a professional early years setting. You will gain practical leadership experience, actively support daily nursery operations, and contribute to delivering high-quality care and education for children.

Key responsibilities include ensuring full regulatory compliance, delivering outstanding care and education, supporting and leading nursery staff, building strong relationships with parents and external agencies, managing budgets and financial targets, and maintaining high standards of care, learning, and safeguarding in line with the EYFS. You will oversee planning, assessment, and inclusion practices, including SEND provision, and ensure children's safety. The role also involves recruiting, inducting, training, supervising, and appraising staff, effectively deploying staff, and managing operational costs. Promoting reflective practice, continuous improvement, and staff development is crucial, as is building strong partnerships with parents and professionals. You will also represent the nursery in the local community and ensure compliance with health and safety, emergency procedures, and safer recruitment. Managing complaints, inspections, and nursery administration, including records and personnel files, along with supporting disciplinary and grievance processes, are also part of the role.

Entry requirements

  • Early Years Educator - Level 3 qualification required. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, organisation skills, problem-solving skills, logical thinking, teamwork, initiative, and patience are essential.
