About the role

This apprenticeship offers a 12-month, government-funded Level 3 Extended Diploma in Dental Nursing, delivered by City & Guilds. As an Apprentice Dental Nurse, you will gain hands-on experience in a dental practice, assisting dentists with chair-side duties, sterilising equipment, and managing reception tasks. You will also play a key role in supporting patient experience and wellbeing. The role involves a variety of duties including greeting patients, handling queries and payments, booking appointments, maintaining patient records, managing stock, and ensuring the cleanliness of dental areas. Upon completion, there are opportunities for career progression into roles such as team leader or dental practice manager, or further training to become a dental therapist, hygienist, or orthodontic therapist.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or above. Strong communication, organisation, customer care, problem-solving, administrative, and teamwork skills are essential, along with patience and a non-judgemental approach to patient care.
