About the role

The apprenticeship in dental nursing is a 12-month government-funded course by City & Guilds, a Level 3 Extended Diploma. Alongside your learning, your job role within the practice will entail assisting dentists, sterilising and preparing equipment, reception duties and supporting patient experience. As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff. Duties include providing chair-side support, reception duties, dealing with patient queries, taking payments, booking appointments, sterilising and preparing equipment, recording patient records, supporting patient wellbeing, cleaning dental areas, and managing stock. Successful candidates will need to pass a DBS check and get a Hepatitis B vaccine.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE English (grade 4) and Mathematics (grade 4). Communication skills, customer care skills, problem-solving skills, administrative skills, analytical skills, logical, creative, non-judgemental.
