About the role

The Sabden and Whalley Medical Group is seeking a Medical Receptionist Apprentice to join their team at Whalley Medical Centre, with occasional cover at the Sabden centre. This role involves processing various appointment requests (in person, telephone, and online), directing patients to the appropriate healthcare professional, and managing computer data entry and record-keeping. The apprentice will also provide clerical assistance including word/data processing, filing, photocopying, and scanning. A key aspect of the role is to handle patient interactions with respect, sympathy, and confidentiality, as well as managing frustrated or upset patients professionally and responding effectively to unpredictable situations. This apprenticeship offers a pathway for potential progression into higher roles within the practice and NHS.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or above, along with strong communication, IT, attention to detail, organisation, customer care, problem-solving, presentation, administrative, teamwork, initiative, and patience skills.
