About the role

Brewster Avenue Infant and Nursery School is seeking an ambitious, hardworking, and enthusiastic Early Years Practitioner to join their friendly and experienced team. This Level 2 apprenticeship offers a fantastic opportunity to work within the Nursery and Reception team, supporting children's learning and development through play and interaction. The role involves contributing to a secure and happy environment, assisting with care routines, and developing effective relationships with staff, parents, and carers. The successful candidate will also support class teachers in assessing children using the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and will be expected to adhere to school policies and procedures, including child protection and health & safety. The apprenticeship includes on-the-job training and regular sessions with Peterborough College, following the occupational standard for off-the-job training. While there is no guarantee of employment at the end of the apprenticeship, there may be opportunities available, and potential progression to a Level 3 qualification in Early Years or as a Teaching Assistant.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE English Literature/Language grade 3/D or above, GCSE Mathematics grade 3/D or above. Functional Skills equivalent at Level 1 also accepted. Essential skills include communication, IT, teamwork, initiative, awareness of child protection, responsibility, motivation, professionalism, enthusiasm, flexibility, and understanding of SEN needs.
