About the role
National Grid is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join their growing Borders team in Carlisle. This role involves the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of critical electricity transmission substation equipment. The position is hands-on and mechanically biased, with opportunities to work outdoors and at heights. Trainees will receive industry-leading training at the Eakring Training Centre in Nottinghamshire, combined with practical site learning, to develop expertise in high-voltage mechanical engineering. Some weekend working with paid overtime is required. Please note that visa sponsorship and relocation packages are not available.
