About the role

Bluebird Care Southampton & Totton are seeking Health Care Assistants to provide high-quality, compassionate care to elderly and vulnerable people in their own homes across Southampton (SO14–SO19), Totton, Lyndhurst, Ashurst, and Marchwood. This apprenticeship will involve supporting with personal care, daily routines, providing companionship, and emotional reassurance. You will learn effective communication strategies, problem-solving techniques, and how to safely support individuals while adhering to legislations, regulations, policies, and risk assessments. The role also includes training in nutrition, hydration, food hygiene standards, and infection prevention control. Safeguarding, whistleblowing, safe handling and administration of medication, dealing with challenging situations, positive behaviour support, understanding autism and learning disabilities, and effective teamwork and lone working are also key components of this apprenticeship. Upon successful completion of this 12-month apprenticeship, you will have obtained your Adult Care Worker (level 2) Apprenticeship qualification. There is a possibility of being offered a full-time role after completion. Drivers Licence is essential, and Health and Social Care experience is desired. Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and communication skills are also required.
