Dental Nurse Apprenticeship

About the role

The role of a dental nurse is to assist the dental surgeon or dental hygienist with all clinical aspects within the surgery. This involves meeting and greeting patients, working closely with the dental team, providing chair-side assistance, updating records, cleaning the surgery to high standards, maintaining cross-infection control, preparing instruments, and reprocessing reusable items. The apprenticeship offers a great route into further careers such as dental hygiene/therapy or practice management. You will need a keen interest in dental nursing, not be deterred by blood and saliva, and be prepared to stand for long periods. A DBS check and Hepatitis B vaccination are required. The qualification achieved will also allow for professional registration with the General Dental Council (GDC).
