About the role

This Dental Nurse Apprenticeship offers hands-on experience in a dental practice, working alongside experienced staff. You will gain new skills and responsibilities including efficient and reliable chair-side support to the dental surgery. Day-to-day duties can encompass reception tasks such as answering the phone, greeting patients, and dealing with queries. You will also be responsible for taking payments, booking appointments, sterilising and preparing equipment, recording patient records, supporting patient wellbeing, cleaning dental areas, and managing stock. The role also involves any other duties to support dentists and the senior team in providing effective patient care. The apprenticeship requires good communication, organisation, customer care, problem-solving, analytical, and team-working skills, along with initiative and a non-judgmental attitude. GCSEs in English and Mathematics at grade 4 are essential. You will need to pass a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and receive a Hepatitis B vaccine. Career progression opportunities include moving into roles like team manager or dental practice manager, or further training to become a dental therapist, dental hygienist, or orthodontic therapist.
