About the role

This apprenticeship offers a fantastic opportunity to train as a Medical Receptionist at Major Oak Medical Practice in Nottinghamshire. You will learn to provide a high standard of patient-centred healthcare, assisting and directing patients to the appropriate service or healthcare professional. The role involves developing crucial communication, customer service, and administrative skills. Key duties include opening and closing the practice, managing patient registrations and enquiries, handling telephone calls, using the SystmOne system for patient records, processing repeat prescriptions, assisting with the organisation of healthcare visits, managing clinic letters and post, and maintaining patient confidentiality. You will also support patient recalls, health promotion activities, and contribute to maintaining a welcoming practice environment. Upon successful completion, there is a possibility of a permanent contract as a Medical Receptionist or Administrator.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths at grades 4-9. Excellent communication, IT, attention to detail, organisation, and teamwork skills are desired.
