About the role

This apprenticeship offers a 12-month, government-funded Level 3 Extended Diploma in Dental Nursing, provided by City & Guilds. As an apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience in a dental practice, assisting dentists, sterilising equipment, performing reception duties, and supporting patient experience. Key responsibilities include providing chair-side support, managing patient queries and appointments, handling payments, maintaining patient records, ensuring equipment is sterile and ready for use, managing stock, and contributing to effective patient care. The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, organisational, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work effectively in a team and on your own initiative. Essential GCSEs in English and Mathematics at grade 4 or above are required. Upon successful completion, there are significant career progression opportunities within the dental field, including roles such as dental practice manager, dental therapist, dental hygienist, or orthodontic therapist. Further training is available for specialized roles.
